
UT MARTIN GOLF ALL SET TO HOST GROVER PAGE CLASSIC NEXT WEEK IN JACKSON

MARTIN, Tenn. – The 16th annual Grover Page Classic, which is proudly hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin golf program, is set for March 11-12 at the Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn.
This year's Grover Page Classic field includes 10 teams (Alabama A&M, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Brescia, Hannibal-LaGrange, John A. Logan, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Union University and UT Martin) and 15 individuals from the previously mentioned schools.
The tournament starts with a practice round on Sunday, March 10 before the 54-hole stroke play event follows over the next two days. The first two rounds (18 holes in the morning, 18 holes in the afternoon) will take place on Monday, March 11 while the third and final round (18 holes) will occur on Tuesday, March 12. An 8:45 a.m. shotgun start is scheduled for both days.
Monday's forecast calls for cloudy skies, a high of 57 degrees, a 10 percent chance of precipitation and eight mile-per-hour winds. Tuesday is also expected to feature cloudy skies, temperatures between 52-57 degrees, a 40 percent chance of precipitation and winds coming in at eight miles per hour.
The Jackson Country Club was built in 1929 and is a par-72 course that is playing at 6,776 yards. The Skyhawks, who have claimed five Grover Page Classic tournament titles since 2009, finished second in the event last season with an overall score of 887 (+23). UT Martin placed three golfers in the top-10 last season, including current junior Ross Redmont (+2, fifth place) and current sophomore Tate Chumley (+6, ninth).
This marks the seventh of 10 regular season tournaments on the Skyhawks' 2018-19 schedule, as UT Martin owns four top-five team finishes so far this season. Individually, Chumley ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 70.9 stroke average while Redmont's 71.9 scoring average is the sixth-best mark in the league.
