CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Six of the eight completed matchups from today's University of Tennessee at Martin and Southeast Missouri tennis match went into tiebreaking sets today as the Skyhawks were outlasted in a 5-2 Ohio Valley Conference setback at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
          Â
Southeast Missouri (8-5, 1-0 OVC) was able to win four of the six tiebreakers, which wound up being the difference in the match. The doubles point swayed to the Redhawks after a tiebreaking 7-6 win at No. 1 while the No. 3 doubles matchup also appeared to be heading towards that direction before it went unfinished with the score knotted at 6-all.
          Â
In singles play, Asel Jumamukhambetova and Amelia Campbell were each responsible for tiebreaker victories. Jumamukhambetova powered through for a come-from-behind 1-6, 7-6, 7-6 triumph at No. 1 while Campbell dialed up a gutsy 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory at No. 5.
          Â
However, that would be the only wins for UT Martin (2-7, 0-1 OVC) on the day. Jemima Potter took the opening set at No. 2 but was defeated 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 3, Daphne Pratt forced a third set but her comeback bid was cut short 6-7, 6-2, 7-6. Mizuki Sakurai also laid it all on the line at No. 6 but was defeated by a 6-7, 6-3, 6-0 margin.
          Â
Next weekend, the Skyhawks will play on their own home courts for the first time since September as UT Martin hosts OVC rivals Belmont (Friday, March 29) and Tennessee State (Saturday, March 30) on back-to-back days. Both matches will begin at 2 p.m.
