MARTIN, Tenn. – The No. 10 ranked University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad turned away Miami (Ohio) today by a 15-3 margin in an exhibition held at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.

Before the competition, the three Skyhawk seniors were honored for their career contributions. Sammi Felts, Sydney Lintner and Monika Zoromski were all active participants for UT Martin today to help the Skyhawks close out the regular season on a high note.

UT Martin dialed up all four MOP honors today, including a dual MOP performance by Kelby Kane (equitation over fences, equitation on the flat). McAuley Ross and Hannah McDonald also picked up MOP accolades in horsemanship and reining, respectively.

The Skyhawks combined to win nine of 10 points in the Western discipline, including a clean sweep of the horsemanship event. UT Martin tacked on three wins apiece in both Hunter Seat discipline events.

Kane began her successful day with an 82-point MOP ride in equitation over fences. Grace Rogers added a victory with 76 points while Zoromski posted a win with a 72-point effort. Abbie Hopkins' 76 points tied her head-to-head competitor.

In horsemanship, Ross' 75.5 MOP performance set the tone for a 5-0 Skyhawk win in the event. Bailey Newlin compiled the highest score (78 points) of the event on her way to the victory while Natalie Armstrong also managed 76 points as part of her winning ride. Devon Woods and Jade Bleskey additionally added wins with scores of 71 and 70.5 points, respectively.

Kane's second MOP of the competition was a direct result of a 78-point performance in equitation on the flat. Zoromski generated the best point total (81) of the event as she nabbed her second win of the day. Hopkins' 67 points provided UT Martin with its third win of the event.

The Skyhawks finished strong behind a 69.5-point MOP effort out of McDonald in reining. Felts followed closely behind with a winning score of 68.5 points while Emily Zegiestowsky earned a victory with a 67-point ride. Brooke Bradley's 66 points were also good enough for a win in the final event of the day.

UT Martin now turns its attention to the 2019 United Equestrian Conference Championship tournament, which the Skyhawks host on March 21-23. UT Martin is seeded fourth and opens the three-day, five-team event with a quarterfinal matchup against No. 5 South Dakota State on Thursday, March 21 at 10 a.m.
