
UT MARTIN RIFLE COMPLETES 2019 SEASON AT NCAA QUALIFIER

MURRAY, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team has wrapped up the 2019 campaign as the results of the NCAA Qualifier have been tallied.
UT Martin competed at the campus of Murray State and fired along with regional foe Memphis on Feb. 16. Junior Skyhawk Kaitlin Korinek narrowly missed out on earning an at-large bid as she faced a tough field of competition. The smallbore squad racked up a score of 2,274 while the air rifle team fired a score of 2,310 for an aggregate of 4,584.
At the NCAA Qualifier, UT Martin was led in smallbore by Korinek's score of 582. Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year Rachel Sprague was right behind her as she fired a score of 578. Also tallying into the team score was Jacob Osborne (561) and Rachel Mills (553), the latter two each firing a career-high in smallbore. Freshman Tristan Grisham also racked up a career-high in the discipline as he fired a score of 563. Rounding out the Skyhawks was Andre Delcalzo (554), Abigail Donald (549), Kalen Royal (547) and Amanda Mayo (545).
In air rifle, the Skyhawks were paced by Korinek (587) with Sprague (586), Osborne (571) and Donald (566) rounding out the counters. Also firing in the discipline was Mayo (558), Grisham (552), Mills (552), Royal (550), Celia Gelpey (549) and Delcalzo (539).
"Although we missed gaining an individual slot for the NCAA Championship, the team finished the season well," head coach MJ Vowell said. "Next season will see the return of strong talent and more depth across both guns. This is a capable team that is on the edge of greater achievements."
