MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad makes the 95-mile trek to Clarksville for an Ohio Valley Conference matchup against in-state rival Austin Peay. Tipoff from the Dunn Center on Saturday, Feb. 23 is set for 4 p.m.
The Skyhawks have won three of their last four outings in Clarksville, with the only blemish coming via a 75-69 setback last season. UT Martin will look to split the season series against the Governors, as Austin Peay claimed a narrow 72-70 win in the Elam Center on Jan. 12. In that game, Kevin Little knocked down a season-best five trifectas on his way to team-highs of 15 points and five assists for the Skyhawks.
UT Martin (10-16, 5-10 OVC) is coming off a hard-fought effort at co-OVC leader Murray State on Thursday, falling by an 85-75 margin. Quintin Dove (19 points and 13 rebounds) was responsible for his second double-double of the season while Craig Randall II continued his torrid stretch of play with 19 points.
Over the last five games, Randall and Dove share the team lead with 15.4 points per contest. Delfincko Bogan (14.0 points per game) and Preston Parks (13.6 points per game) have formed a high-scoring backcourt while Jailen Gill has paced the frontcourt with team-highs of 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per outing.
Austin Peay (20-8, 12-3 OVC) tops the OVC and ranks ninth nationally in turnover margin (+4.14) while the Governors also lead the league with a .399 three-point field goal percentage in conference play. Sophomore Terry Taylor is the reigning OVC Player of the Week after scoring 42 points and grabbing 18 rebounds (the most by any OVC player in both respective categories) at Morehead State last Saturday.
The duo of Chris Porter-Bunton (game-high 19 points) and Jabari McGhee (18 points, 19 rebounds) helped power Austin Peay to an 83-70 home victory over Southeast Missouri on Thursday.
