
CHELSEY PERRY NAMED OVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin junior forward Chelsey Perry notched her first career Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor after an impressive week of performances against IUPUI and Illinois State.
A native of Middleton, Tenn., Perry averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and 2.5 steals in a pair of performances. The Preseason All-OVC standout scored a total of 33 points and 17 rebounds while tallying 13 blocks and five steals in the two contests.
Perry began her impressive week with a record-setting performance against IUPUI in which she tallied 19 points and nine rebounds while tying the program's single-game record with eight blocks. Her performance matched that of fellow record holders Mary Kate Long (1986) and Rickiesha Bryant (2013) while ranking as the third-most blocks in a Division I contest this season. She then capped off her week with 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks at Illinois State.
For her career, Perry has tallied 853 points – averaging 14.7 points per game this season – while tallying 126 blocks.
Perry and the Skyhawks will return to action on Tuesday evening with a matchup at Southern Illinois at 6 p.m.
