11/23/2019 12:41:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will return to the friendly confines of the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center with a matchup against Horizon League foe IUPUI on Monday, Nov. 25. Tipoff from the Elam Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (1-3) are coming off a strong comeback victory in the home opener against Samford last Thursday night. UT Martin would trail by 10 points heading into the final quarter before the sophomore trio of Damiah Griffin, Brittni Moore and Sade' Hudson keyed a rally to tie the game and ultimately force overtime. Highlighting the game overall was the play of junior Chelsey Perry who notched a new career-high offensively, tallying 32 points while adding five rebounds and two blocks.
UT Martin improved its record at home under 11th year head coach Kevin McMillan to 103-24. The win also improved the Skyhawks to 101-7 when scoring 80 points or more since 2010.
The Skyhawks feature three players who are averaging close to double-figures. Griffin has scored in double figures in all four games while pacing the squad with 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. A Preseason All-OVC honoree, Perry has come on in the last two games including her 32-point performance against Samford while averaging 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds. Junior Tamiah Stanford ranks just outside double figures with 9.8 points per game.
IUPUI (2-2) enters the contest having dropped back-to-back contests against Miami and Butler last week. The Jags feature three players in double figures, led by the play of Macee Williams with 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. The pair of Rachel McLimore (13.0 ppg) and Holly Hoopingarner (11.3) also ranks amongst leading scorers.
Monday's matchup marks the second meeting in series history. The two teams met for the first time last season as the Jags' Sydney Roule knocked down a three-pointer in the final second to secure a 73-72 victory on Nov. 13, 2018.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ while Chris Brinkley (play-by-play) will have the radio call on WCMT 1410 AM/100.5 FM. Those links - in addition to a link for live stats - are located at the top of the webpage.
