JOHN BACHUS III EARNS FOURTH OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK HONOR THIS SEASON

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the fourth time this season, University of Tennessee at Martin quarterback John Bachus III has been named Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after a strong showing against Tennessee State.
A native of Pulaski, Tenn., Bachus completed 16-of-25 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns as UT Martin topped Tennessee State 28-17 to finish the home portion of its schedule 5-0. The redshirt freshman had touchdown passes of seven, 27 and nine yards on the afternoon, with one coming in the first, one in the third and one in the fourth quarter. He also had a 39-yard completion to Colton Dowell.
A candidate for the Jerry Rice Award, Bachus ranks 19th nationally in passing yards/completion (13.99).
Bachus and the Skyhawks will cap off the regular season with a road matchup at Southeastern Conference foe Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 23. Kickoff from Kroger Field is slated for 2:30 p.m. CST.
