MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball head coach Kevin McMillan has announced the signing of Haley Nichols to the program's 2020 recruiting class.
Nichols is a 6-0 forward from Avon High School where she plays for head coach Corie West. Entering her senior campaign, Nichols has tallied 771 points, 495 rebounds, 92 assists, 82 steals and 31 blocks in her prep career. As a high school junior, she averaged 11.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 66 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc.
A native of Avon, Ind., Nichols is a two-time all-county first team and all-conference honoree while being tabbed to the all-state honorable mention squad as both a sophomore and junior.
"We have been watching Haley for years and we are excited to see what she brings to the table for our program," McMillan said. "She is a strong and physical player that will enhance our team's post presence. She is versatile and can play the three or the four position while doing a nice job tracking rebounds. Not only does she come from a good high school program and a great family, her basketball IQ is just what we are looking for."
