
NO. 3 SEEDED UT MARTIN TO HOST NO. 6 SEEDED BELMONT ON SUNDAY IN OVC SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTERFINALS

MARTIN, Tenn. – The No. 3 seeded University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will play host to No. 6 seeded Belmont in the Ohio Valley Conference Soccer Championship quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 3. Action from Skyhawk Field is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. and will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (8-5-5) clinched the third seed in the OVC Soccer Championship after posting a 6-2-2 mark in league play throughout the season. UT Martin finished the regular season strong, winning four of its final five games while forcing a draw against league champion Southeast Missouri.
UT Martin is led offensively by the play of sophomore Jill Hildreth who paced the team with eight goals this season. Fellow sophomore Hendrikje Baurmann ranked second on the team with five goals while the junior pair of Alice Adams and Bella Roberts tallied four goals of their own. Junior goalkeeper Erica Myers recorded five shutouts this season while posting a GAA of 1.47 and saving 78 percent of shot attempts on goal.
Belmont (6-8-4) is the sixth seed in the OVC Soccer Championship and advanced to the tournament quarterfinals after recording a 1-0 overtime victory over Austin Peay. The Bruins are led offensively by the play of Julie Garst with a team-high 13 points while Niki Clements shares the team lead with five goals on the season. Senior goalkeeper Lily Herman started in all 18 games this season while posting a 1.38 GAA and 95 saves to go along with five shutouts.
This marks the 20th meeting between the two programs in series history with UT Martin holding a slight 10-9 advantage. The Skyhawks won the regular season match 1-0 off an early goal by Baurmann just 59 seconds into the matchup back on Sept. 22.
