MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team outshot the opposition by a 20-15 margin but the Skyhawks could not find the back of the net in a 3-0 loss to Ohio Valley Conference rival SIUE this afternoon.

A dozen different UT Martin strikers reeled off a shot today, as the Skyhawks placed 10 of their attempts on goal. However, the visiting Cougars managed to score in the eighth, 19^th and 77^th minutes to take the win.

Bella Roberts and Jill Hildreth each led the way with three shots for UT Martin today while Roberts, Jill Hilldreth and Elin Berggren recorded a team-best two shots on goal.

Defensively, both Erica Myers and Jacalyn Schubring logged the full 90 minutes on the pitch for the Skyhawks. Myers made five of her seven saves in the opening half as the Cougars fired 10 of their 15 shots on goal.

Berggren was responsible for the first shot of the match, as her attempt was on target but snagged by SIUE goalkeeper Jensen Schoch for her first of 10 saves on the day. Roberts also sent a shot on goal in the eighth minute before the Cougars took a 1-0 lead at the 7:59 mark.

Myers made two more saves before SIUE tacked on an insurance goal with 26:49 on the clock.

Alice Adams, Roberts, Jill Hildreth and Jaden Hildreth each forced the action with shots on goal in the first half but could not sneak one past Schoch.

The Cougars were stymied by Myers with the first shot attempt of the second stanza. Both sides stalled offensively, not putting a shot on goal for nearly 24 minutes until Berggren's attempt at the 72:20 mark was saved by Schoch.

Myers came away with her final save of the day just 89 seconds later but SIUE struck again with a goal off a free kick at the 76:24 mark.

UT Martin would see Nicole Collins, Jill Hildreth and Hendrikje Baurmann place shots on goal over the final 10 minutes of the match but Schoch completed her shutout with saves on each attempt.

The Skyhawks will head on the road next weekend, traveling to the Bluegrass State for OVC bouts against Morehead State (Oct. 11) and Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 13).
