MOREHEAD, Ky. – Goals by the junior pair of Bella Roberts and Alice Adams lifted the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team to a 2-1 Ohio Valley Conference road victory at Morehead State on Friday evening.

The Skyhawks (5-5-4, 3-2-1 OVC) passes the first test of the always difficult Death Valley road swing with a 2-1 road victory. UT Martin would tally 13 shots on the evening while the trio of Roberts, Adams and Jill Hildreth each tallied a pair of shots on goals.

Neither team would get on the board until just prior to the halftime break as Roberts found an assist from Elin Berggren who headed the ball past the keeper to put the Skyhawks on the board in the 44th minute. The Skyhawks would strike again in the opening minutes of the second half as Adams struck a rolling shot past the diving keeper to give the road team a two-goal advantage in the 50th minute. Morehead State would later add a goal from Nicole Palmer to cut the deficit in half in the 88th minute courtesy of a penalty kick, but would not find the equalizer.

Junior goalkeeper Erica Myers picked up her 21st career victory and fifth of the season. Myers tallied five saves between the posts while allowing one goal off a PK.

UT Martin will look to cap off the trip with a strong showing against Eastern Kentucky on Sunday, Oct. 13. The game is scheduled to begin at noon and can be seen on ESPN+.
