MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will return home for an Ohio Valley Conference matchup against SIUE on Sunday, Oct. 6. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (4-4-4, 2-1-1 OVC) are looking to build upon the team's strong play at home, losing just one matchup in five opportunities at Skyhawk Field. During OVC play alone, UT Martin has been stingy defensively, recording three shutouts in the team's four matches against league opponents.
Redshirt-sophomore Jill Hildreth leads the team with five goals and one assist on the season but the play of sophomore Hendrikje Baurmann has led the way as of late. Baurmann has scored three of her four goals of the season in OVC action – including her first career multi-goal outing against Austin Peay last Sunday. Junior Alice Adams boasts the team's other score in league action.
Junior Erica Myers continues to build upon her All-OVC season a year ago with four shutouts this year. Myers has tallied 64 saves on the season while recording a GAA of 1.55 in over 1158 minutes of play.
SIUE (3-5-3, 1-2-2 OVC) enter the matchup having won only one of its last six games after suffering a 2-1 overtime setback at Southeast Missouri on Thursday night. The Cougars are led offensively by the play of
MacKenzie Litzsinger with six goals and 13 points overall while the quartet of Angle Ikeda, Lily Schnieders, Courtney Benning and Megan Keeven have also tallied a pair of goals. Goalkeeper Jensen Schoch has started the last two games for the Cougars, tallying 27 saves and posting a 0.82 GAA in seven contests.
Sunday's matchup will serve as the 14th meeting between the two programs with UT Martin holding an 8-5 advantage in the series. The wins have alternated in the past seven meetings with the Skyhawks winning three-straight at home.
