MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will close out the regular season by honoring its two seniors prior to playing host to Ohio Valley Conference foe Jacksonville State on Sunday, Oct. 27. Senior Day festivities will be held approximately 10 minutes prior to the scheduled 2 p.m. start. The contest will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (7-5-5, 5-2-2 OVC) enter the contest currently in sole possession of third place in the OVC standings. A win or tie will secure a top-four seed into next week's OVC Soccer Championship along with hosting responsibilities for the first and quarterfinals round.
UT Martin will honor its senior pair of Nicole Collins and Lexi Thomas prior to the start of the contest. Both players are four-year members of the Skyhawks while earning berths in three OVC Soccer Championships, tallying 32 career victories and notching one regular season championship in 2018. Together the pair has combined to start 87 matches while totaling seven goals and eight assists.
The Skyhawks are led by the play of Jill Hildreth with seven goals on the season while Hendrikje Baurmann has scored five goals – including a team-high four goals in league play. Junior goalkeeper Erica Myers has tallied four shutouts on the season while recording 95 saves.
Jacksonville State (4-13, 1-8 OVC) is looking to end the season on a positive note after suffering a 2-0 setback at OVC-leader Southeast Missouri on Friday night. The Gamecocks are led offensively Cynthia Bagozzi with seven goals while Emma Meadows and Cheyenne Carden have tallied three each.
Sunday's meeting will mark the 19th matchup between the two squads with UT Martin holding a 10-5-3 advantage. The Skyhawks have won three straight meetings, including a 4-1 triumph over the Gamecocks on the road last season.
