MARTIN, Tenn. – For the second straight year, the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball team will close out nonconference play against Middle Tennessee as the Skyhawks and Blue Raiders will clash at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Last season, UT Martin hosted Middle Tennessee for the first time since 1999 and posted a five-set victory (20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 22-25, 15-13). A winning homestand is at stake for UT Martin (7-15), as the Skyhawks close out a season-long five-match home stretch against the Blue Raiders. UT Martin has split its first four matches, including 3-0 sweeps over Ohio Valley Conference rivals Eastern Illinois and Eastern Kentucky. Hinshaw's 8.33 assists per set average and 18 service aces lead UT Martin while Walker ranks in the top-15 nationally with 99 blocks. With her next swat, Walker will become just the seventh player in the school's Division I Era (since 1992) to generate back-to-back triple-digit block seasons.
