
KANE EARNS A PAIR OF MOP’S AS SKYHAWK EQUESTRIAN SWEEPS HOMESTAND, KNOCKING OFF NO. 10 DELAWARE STATE

MARTIN, Tenn. – All four MOP's belonged to the University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian team as the Skyhawks capped off a perfect week with an 11-9 victory over No. 10 Delaware State today.
Coming off a 9-8 triumph over South Dakota State yesterday, UT Martin rose to the occasion once again. The Skyhawks displayed a dominance in the Western discipline, outscoring the visiting Hornets by an 8-2 margin. UT Martin also accrued two victories in flat and one more win in fences.
Sophomore Kelby Kane piled up MOP accolades in both Jumping Seat events, dialing up 84 points in fences and 74 points in flat. Paige Benson also continued her blazing start with the third horsemanship win of her freshman campaign, tallying MOP honors with 74.5 points. Noel Meadows made it a perfect 4-for-4 for the Skyhawks in MOP's as the junior from Staunton, Va. chalked up a 68-point effort in reining.
UT Martin was responsible for four wins in horsemanship, led by Benson's MOP performance. Lucy Eier wasn't too far behind Benson's score as she piled up 74 points for a head-to-head victory. Devon Woods continued her strong week with a 72.5-point win while Bailey Newlin chipped in a victory via a 72-point effort.
The Skyhawks also won four points in reining, guided by Meadows' MOP ride. Hannah McDonald accumulated a team-best score of 69 points on her way to a victory while Tess Baumann (69.5 points) and Brooke Bradley (67) each provided big head-to-head wins for UT Martin.
Kane's MOP effort paved the way for the Skyhawks in flat while Abbie Hopkins also collected a win in that event, courtesy of a 71-point performance. Randi LaChance managed a team-high 75 points in the event but was narrowly edged by one point.
In fences, Kane's MOP performance was the lone UT Martin point in the event. Savannah Metheny (80 points) and Tyler Anderson (76) additionally posted solid scores but each fell by slim two-point margins.
The Skyhawks wrap up the fall portion of their schedule on Nov. 15, traveling to Columbia, SC for a matchup at current No. 7 ranked South Carolina.
