UTM BASEBALL SET TO OPEN OFFICIAL PRACTICE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball program opens official team practice to prepare for the 2019 campaign on Friday, Jan. 25.
UT Martin head coach Ryan Jenkins enters his second season as the skipper of the Skyhawks. The 2019 squad features a mix of experienced sluggers and a talented group of newcomers. UT Martin looks to improve on last season's 11-40 record as Jenkins was named interim in December of 2017 and elevated to full time status in April of 2018.
Returning are the trio of Jordan Stoner (All-Ohio Valley Conference first team), Blake Davis and Ethan Whitley (both All-OVC newcomer team members). Stoner made a splash in his first year in a Skyhawk uniform as he cracked into the top-10 in numerous single season categories en route to his first team nod. The duo of Davis and Whitley showed what promise lies around the corner as the two sophomores look to build on their impressive freshman campaigns.
UT Martin will play a three-day intersquad scrimmage from Jan. 25-27 and opens the regular season on Friday, Feb. 15 when it hosts South Dakota State for a four-game matchup against the Jackrabbits.
