
SKYHAWK BASEBALL ANNOUNCES 2019 SLATE OF GAMES

MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin head baseball coach Ryan Jenkins has announced the 2019 schedule.
UT Martin opens its 62nd year of baseball by hosting South Dakota State on Feb. 15-17 for a four-game series against the Jackrabbits. This marks the third time in program history that the Skyhawks will play South Dakota State as UT Martin last played the Summit League opponent in 2011.
The Skyhawks then hit the road for a month of games beginning with a series against North Alabama on Feb. 22-24. UT Martin will then take on Southeastern Conference foe Ole Miss on Feb. 26 followed by a trip to Georgia to play Kennesaw State on March 1-3. The Skyhawks then take on Jenkins' alma mater, Auburn, for a two-game midweek matchup on March 5-6.
UT Martin will open Ohio Valley Conference action on the road at Southeast Missouri on March 8 and wrap up the road swing against Alabama A&M on March 12.
The Skyhawks return home for an OVC series against Belmont on March 15-17 and welcome Alabama A&M to Skyhawk Field on March 19 for a midweek contest against the Bulldogs.
UT Martin takes a brief road trip to Richmond, Ky. for a conference series against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on March 22-24 before returning home to take on the Union Bulldogs on March 27. The Skyhawks then host OVC rival Morehead State on March 29-31 to end the four-game homestand.
Next on the calendar is a midweek road trip to Missouri Valley Conference member Evansville on April 3 before UT Martin heads to Birmingham, Ala. to take on former OVC foe Samford on April 5-7. The Skyhawks return home for a midweek matchup against Christian Brothers before getting back on the road with an OVC series at SIUE on April 12-14. UT Martin wraps up the road swing at Union on April 17 in nearby Jackson, Tenn.
UT Martin welcomes in-state OVC rival Austin Peay to the friendly confines of Skyhawk Field on April 18-20 followed by a home contest against Evansville on April 24. The Skyhawks will head back to the Land of Lincoln to take on OVC foe Eastern Illinois on April 26-28 before heading to Nashville to square off against Atlantic Sun Conference opponent Lipscomb on April 30.
The Skyhawks return to Martin for an OVC weekend set against Jacksonville State on May 3-5 before travelling to conference rival Murray State on May 10-12. UT Martin will then play American Athletic Conference foe Memphis at USA Stadium in Millington, Tenn. for a neutral-site matchup against the Tigers on May 14.
Rounding out the regular season, the Skyhawks will host reigning OVC champion Tennessee Tech on May 16-18. The Golden Eagles made it all the way to the NCAA Super Regional before falling to No. 5 ranked Texas by a 5-2 margin to end their historic year. UT Martin handed Tennessee Tech one of its 12 losses as the Golden Eagles notched 53 total victories in 2018.
For the first time in conference history, the OVC Baseball Championship Tournament will be played in Marion, Ill. at Rent One Park, home of the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League. Games will be held on May 21-26.
