
UTM SOCCER SET TO HOST WESTERN CAROLINA AND UNION FOR TWO-GAME HOMESTAND

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team is ready to open a weekend homestand with a matchup against Western Carolina on Friday, Sept. 7 followed by a contest against Union on Saturday, Sept. 8. Both matches are slated to start at 7 p.m.
UT Martin (3-2) is coming off of a 2-0 setback against No. 10 system rival Tennessee. So far on the season, the Skyhawks are a perfect 2-0 in home contests and look to keep the ball rolling.
As a squad, UT Martin has netted 14 goals on the season, averaging 2.80 per match while placing 49 of its 98 total shots on goal. Jaden Hildreth leads the Skyhawks in goals (three) while Skylor Keane, Danae Kaldaridou and Blare Gerido have each scored a pair of goals on the season. The duo of Bella Roberts and Katelyn Colvin have tallied two assists apiece.
The Skyhawk defense has been superb as the back line has matched up extremely well by allowing just 8.2 shots per game. Sophomore Kamryn Chappell has anchored the UT Martin defense as she leads all UT Martin players in minutes played (400).
Sporting a 1.00 goals against average, the Skyhawk goalkeeping corps has also racked up 14 saves and logged 450 minutes between the trio of Erica Myers, Makenzie Crawford and Callie Thomas.
Western Carolina (3-1-2) has netted four goals on the season as Mackenzie Wright, Regan Ward, Cami Couch and Eynde Frazier have all put a ball into the back of the net. A free-passing team, the Catamounts also have four players with an assist each (Kate Swartwout, Sayres McKenna, Emity Zipay and Maryanne Kilgore).
Union (0-1) is led by Anna Barkey (one goal and one assist) while Victoria Lucido has scored a goal and Tiffany Linser has accounted for an assist on the young season for the Bulldogs under first-year head coach Scott Sinclair.
