UT MARTIN GOLF PLAYS HOST TO SKYHAWK FALL CLASSIC AT PARIS LANDING STATE PARK

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf program proudly plays host to the 12th annual Skyhawk Fall Classic, which will once again be held at Paris Landing State Park in Buchanan, Tenn. on Oct. 1-2.
Seven teams and nine individuals will make up the 2018 tournament field, as UT Martin is joined by Alabama State, Bethel, John A. Logan, Murray State, Rend Lake and Tennessee State.
A practice round is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 30 before the 54-hole stroke play tournament begins the following morning. The tournament officially starts with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, Oct. 1 with the second round following later that afternoon. The third and final round tees off on Tuesday, Oct. 2 with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
Built in 1971, the Paris Landing State Park golf course plays at 6,685 yards. The par-72 course is located just off US Highway 79 and is one of the signature courses of the Tennessee State Park System and the Tennessee Golf Trail.
Monday's forecast calls for a high of 81 degrees, low of 66 degrees, 8 mph south winds and a 30 percent chance of morning showers. Tuesday's forecast calls for a high of 82 degrees, low of 67 degrees with partly cloudy skies, 9 mph south winds and a 20 percent chance of precipitation.
The Skyhawks have brought home the tournament title in each of the past two years, shooting an 860 (-4) in both events. Last season, Cameron Smith (213, -3), Ross Redmont (214, -2), Jack Story (218, +2) and Nick Wolf (218, +2) each finished in the top-nine in the individual standings.
Through three tournaments so far this fall, UT Martin currently ranks fourth in the OVC in scoring average (287.0). Tate Chumley ranks fourth in the league with a 69.9 stroke average while Redmont ranks 10th with a 70.9 stroke average.
