MADISON, Ill. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf team earned its third consecutive top-five tournament finish to begin the 2018-19 season with another solid performance in today's final round of the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational held at the Gateway National Golf Links.

Overall, the Skyhawks logged an 858 (+6) on the final team scorecard after a Round 3 score of 285 (+1) this morning. UT Martin tapped in 16 birdie putts today to bring their three-round total to 46, which ranked as the third-most in the tournament field. Host SIUE was the only school to shoot under-par for the tournament (842, -10) on its way to a first-place finish.

"We had another good day," Skyhawk head coach Jerry Carpenter said. "We started out hot with a lot of birdies but we ran into a few double bogeys along the way. The setup of the golf course was a lot tougher today so 1-over par as a team is a pretty good score. We finally played with some consistency today and I am proud of the way we finished."

For the second tournament in a row, Tate Chumley generated the best finish of his collegiate career. The sophomore out of Murfreesboro, Tenn. placed third out of 96 golfers in the field with an overall tally of 207 (-6), posting a 68 with four birdies during today's third round. He rounded out the tournament ranking third in pars (41) and third in par-4 scoring (3.85, -4) in the 54-hole event.
          Â
Ross Redmont earned his fifth top-eight finish of the last two seasons after an even-par (213) performance led him to a four-way tie for seventh place. He carded four birdies today on his way to a 73.
          Â
Nick Wolf and Peyton Dix completed UT Martin's team scoring today as both notched a 72 (+1). Wolf birdied each of his final three holes as part of a team-high five birdies on the day while Dix led the tournament with 15 pars to go along with one birdie during today's round. Jack Story rounded out the Skyhawk lineup as he was sitting at 1-under through his first nine holes today before finishing with a 77 (+6).
          Â
Overall, Wolf finished with a final tally of 220 (+7) while Story and Dix each produced identical scores of 226 (+13) for the tournament.
          Â
Competing as an individual, Mason Chandler shot a 76 (+5) with one birdie during today's third and final round. He wrapped up his tournament with a total score of 230 (+17).
          Â
UT Martin now turns its attention to the Skyhawk Fall Classic, which the program will host on Oct. 1-2 at Paris Landing State Park in Buchanan, Tenn. UT Martin is one of seven teams in the 2018 field and will look to win the tournament for the third consecutive year.
