Football has been a storied part of the state of Tennessee's history for decades. Dating back to the 2010 season, UT Martin ranks fourth in the state - including all Division I universities - in total victories with 51. Additionally, the Skyhawks are 13-3 against in-state foes since 2014 – including 2-0 against Saturday's opponent Chattanooga under the direction of head coach Jason Simpson.
3. On This Date in UT Martin History
When the Skyhawks take the field on Saturday it will be the sixth time in program history that UT Martin has played on the 15th of September. Overall, UT Martin is 2-3 on games played on Sept. 15 dating back to 1979.

4. Dual-Headed Monster at Linebacker
UT Martin knew that its senior duo of Kevin Prather, Jr. and James Gilleylen would be formidable, the duo is proving to be destructive all over the field. Prather enters Saturday's contest with 223 tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks in his career meanwhile Gilleylen is right next to him with 226 tackles, 26.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. The pair has combined to tally 20.3 (337/1659) percent of the team's total tackles over the past two seasons while notching 36 tackles, 7.0 TFLs and a pair of sacks in 2018.
5. Skyhawks Garner ESPN Spotlight
UT Martin currently has all 11 of the team's games available to a national audience through the ESPN family of networks. The Skyhawks will opened the season against Missouri on SEC Network Alternate while playing Middle Tennessee on ESPN+. UT Martin will play on newly-launched ESPN+ for eight of the remaining nine contests this season, except for the ESPN3 Game of the Week matchup against Eastern Illinois on Oct. 20.Players Mentioned
