MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin head men's basketball coach Anthony Stewart added to his frontcourt with the addition of Minfeke Sanoe, a 6-10, 260-pound sophomore center out of Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.
Sanoe garnered All-South Coast Conference honorable mention honors as a true freshman, averaging 8.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest. He helped the Mounties finish second in the SCC North division with a 7-3 conference record.
"Minfeke is a big-bodied post presence who is strong and very active on both ends of the floor," Stewart said. "We are thrilled to have him as part of the Skyhawk program for the next three seasons."
Playing under head coach Clark Maloney, Sanoe led Mt. SAC in field goal percentage (.549, 90-of-164) and blocked shots (14) in 2017-18. He compiled seven double-doubles, including career-highs of 20 points (on 7-of-12 shooting) and 15 rebounds against LA Pierce on Dec. 19.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Sanoe hauled in double-digit rebounds on 11 different occasions as a true freshman. He also chipped in three multi-steal games and a pair of multi-block performances.
Sanoe prepped at Northeast Preparatory School in Philadelphia, where he was a standout performer. He made a name for himself at the Future150 New York Camp held in Albany, where he was selected as one of 24 All-Star participants in 2014.
Sanoe is one of eight newcomers to the Skyhawk program. He will join juniors Quintin Dove, Derek Hawthorne, Jr., Charles Henderson, Jeremy Joyner, Preston Parks and Trent Williams as players who are set to make their UT Martin debuts in 2018-19 while sophomore Parker Stewart will sit out after transferring in from the University of Pittsburgh.
