SKYHAWK FOOTBALL SET TO OPEN FALL CAMP ON FRIDAY

MARTIN, Tenn. – Along with the summer heat of August comes the opening of camp for collegiate football programs all around the country with the University of Tennessee at Martin being no different.
The Skyhawks are set to report to campus on Thursday, Aug. 2 and will hold 20 practices leading up to game-week preparations for their season-opener at Missouri on Saturday, Sept. 1. The team will conduct two intrasquad scrimmages on Saturday, Aug. 11 and Saturday, Aug. 18. All practices are open to the public.
The Skyhawks begin their 13th season under the direction of head coach Jason Simpson who has won a total of 78 games in his tenure, ranking as the seventh most victories in OVC history. Simpson leads a Skyhawk squad which will has been tabbed to finish third by both OVC media members, the league's sports information directors and coaches. The Skyhawks finished last season 6-5 overall with a 4-4 record, notching the 12th straight season with a least a .500 record.
UT Martin will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Southeastern Conference foe Missouri. The schedule features a 11-game slate which includes five home games against Chattanooga (Sept. 15), Austin Peay (Sept. 22), Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 13), Southeast Missouri (Oct. 27) and Tennessee Tech (Nov. 10). The Skyhawks will also take on FBS opponent and in-state foe Middle Tennessee on Saturday, Sept. 8.
