BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - The 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Women's Basketball Championship presented by VisitMyrtleBeach.com field is set. Belmont won its second regular-season title and the No. 1 seed. UT Martin is the No. 2 seed while SIUE earned the No. 3 seed followed by Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Austin Peay, Southeast Missouri and Murray State.
The championship will be held February 28 through March 3 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
The Skyhawks (17-13) finished the regular season in a tie for second place with a league mark of 13-5 while earning the No. 2 seed after ultimately winning the tie-breaker against SIUE on the final game of the year. This marks UT Martin's ninth consecutive tournament appearance while serving as the ninth time in as many years that the Skyhawks have entered the field as a top-four seed.
UT Martin possess a legitimate threat to the championship crown after posting a 13-5 overall mark in OVC Basketball Championships dating back to the 2009-10 season - including championships in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. The Skyhawks enter tournament play having played some of its best basketball of the season down the stretch, winning nine of its last 10 contest while posting an average margin of victory of +12.1 points during the span. UT Martin last played in the Ford Center in 2012 and 2015, notching victories in both appearances.
The entire tournament will be streamed on the OVC Digital Network and ESPN3.
