NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team wrapped up its lengthy four-game road swing with a 62-53 victory at Lipscomb on Sunday afternoon.
The Skyhawks improved to 6-3 on the season while finishing the road trip with a 2-2 mark, highlighted by victories over Chattanooga and Lipscomb. The road wouldn't be easy for the squad however as the game featured five lead changes and saw the score tied four times. The Skyhawks would only lead for 21 minutes in the contest but would control the second half by outscoring the Lady Bisons 36-24.
UT Martin forced the home squad into 27 turnovers on the day while winning the battle of the boards by six. A total of three different players would score in double figures for the Skyhawks led by 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench by junior Aundrea Adams. Freshman Aundrea Adams tallied 15 points and sophomore Zaire Hicks rounded out the trio with 10 points as well. Meanwhile, sophomore Maddie Waldrop also notched a strong performance with seven points, 12 rebounds and four steals in the contest to narrowly miss out on a double-double.
Lipscomb dropped sixth straight game despite making things difficult for the visiting Skyhawks with a strong defense presence. Depleted by injuries, the Lady Bisons led for much of the first half while watching Jane Deason tally a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Keely Morrow also reached double figures for the Lipscomb with 15 points off the bench.
The Skyhawks will take the next week off to focus on finals before returning to action on Wednesday, Dec. 19 against Alabama-Huntsville. Tipoff from the Elam Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
