
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S HOOPS RETURNS TO ACTION WITH MATCHUP AGAINST ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will return to action after a lengthy break with a matchup against Division II foe Alabama Huntsville on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. and can be watched on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (6-3) return to action for their first game in 10 days against Lipscomb back on Sunday, Dec. 9. In that contest, UT Martin overcame a first half deficit to notch a comeback victory and close out the lengthy four-game road swing on a positive note. Three different players scored in double figures for the Skyhawks in with junior Aundrea Adams scoring a game-high 17 points off the bench to lead the way.
UT Martin enters the contest with an RPI of 64, ranking as the second highest in the Ohio Valley Conference heading into the final two games of non-conference play. The Skyhawks rank in the top-25 in the nation in four statistical categories, including ranking 11th in steals per game (13.1), 15th in turnovers forced per game (23.2), 19th in steals (118) and 23rd in scoring offense (81.1 points per game).
Alabama Huntsville (4-6) enters the matchup in the middle of a busy schedule as Wednesday's contest marks the team's fifth game over the course of nine days. The Chargers are 1-3 during the stretch – including back-to-back losses in Gulf South Conference play their last two games out. Junior guard Aryn Sanders paces the team with 17.3 points while notching 8.0 rebounds per game. Baylee Johnson (13.3 ppg) and Katie Speegle (10.4 ppg) round out the team's top scorers.
Wednesday's contest marks the eighth meeting between the two programs in series history with UT Martin holding a 7-0 advantage. The Skyhawks and Chargers have met only once under direction of both team's respective head coach, with UT Martin coming out on top 104-73 last season.
The game will be televised live on ESPN+.
