BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference announced this afternoon that University of Tennessee at Martin forward Quintin Dove was the recipient of the OVC Newcomer of the Week award for the sport of men's basketball.
Dove is the first Skyhawk to claim an OVC weekly award during the young season. All-time, he is the 22nd UT Martin representative to win the accolade and first since current teammate Delfincko Bogan nabbed the award on Feb. 12, 2018.
A 6-8, 200-pound junior out of Cuyahoga Community College, Dove produced a game-high 22 points to go along with career-highs of six rebounds and two blocks during Saturday's 87-70 triumph over UNC Asheville. Dove successfully converted 10 of his 12 field goal tries and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the charity stripe in 29 minutes off the bench. He sank each of his first six shots from the field and nabbed five offensive rebounds.
The Cleveland, Ohio native has come on strong over the last three games, averaging 17.0 points on 71 percent shooting (22-of-31) to go along with 5.3 rebounds per contest during that span. Dove currently ranks second in the OVC with a .676 field goal percentage.
Dove and the Skyhawks return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 5 when they travel to Tulane for a 7 p.m. matchup.
