Saturday's contest will serve as the program's 66th annual Homecoming game with UT Martin holding a 36-29 overall mark in said matchups. This will mark just third time the Skyhawks and Redhawks have ever squared off on Homecoming with the previous meetings occurring during the 1995 and 2002 seasons. The Skyhawk are 8-4 in Homecoming games under the direction of head coach Jason Simpson.

4. Anniversary of 1988 Gulf South Champions

This weekend UT Martin will hold a reunion for members of the 1988 football team which won the program's lone Gulf South Conference Championship. The team posted an 11-2 overall mark while going 7-1 in conference contests. The Pacers would not only earn a playoff berth but defeat Butler 23-6 in the opening round before falling to Texas A&I the following week. Included in the team's success, the team saw four players selected in the 1989 NFL Draft in Jonathan Burch (Phoenix Cardinals), Emanuel McNeil (New England Patriots), William Mackall (Indianapolis Colts) and Jerome Rinehart (New York Giants) while Sam Dudley (Seattle Seahawks) and Andre Langley (Phoenix Cardinals) singed free agent deals.
