MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad swept all four MOP's today in a hard-fought 9-5 triumph over South Dakota State at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
          Â
The Skyhawks earned their first win of the season behind a dominant effort in reining, picking up all four wins in the event. Overall, UT Martin edged out the Jackrabbits by a 5-2 margin in the Western discipline and by a 4-3 margin in the Hunter Seat discipline.
          Â
Monika Zoromski (equitation over fences), Kelby Kane (equitation on the flat), Devon Woods (horsemanship) and Tess Baumann (reining) each collected MOP accolades for the Skyhawks. That marked the first time that UT Martin had nabbed all four MOP honorees since last March 16 against Minnesota-Crookston.
          Â
In equitation over fences, Zoromski tallied 77 points on her way to her first MOP of the season. Kane also tallied the second victory of her freshman season with a 76-point performance.
          Â
Woods' MOP effort was the result of 74 points in horsemanship, which was her first victory of the 2018-19 campaign. Bobbie Piddock earned a draw with her 69-point ride while Lucy Eier (70.5) was narrowly defeated by one point.
          Â
The Skyhawks dominated the reining portion of the competition, outscoring South Dakota State by a 279.5-130 margin. Baumann nabbed MOP accolades with 68.5 points while Hannah McDonald's score of 71.5 was the highest point total for UT Martin. Noel Meadows (71) and Maddie Mykolaitis (68.5) rounded out the sweep for the Skyhawks.
          Â
In equitation on the flat, Kane's 86 points were good enough for an MOP honor – as it was also the highest score in that event for any UT Martin rider this season. Zoromski was close behind with 85 points while Lindsay Anderson's 69 points tied her Jackrabbit competitor.
          Â
The Skyhawks are back in action tomorrow as they take on Sweet Briar College in a Hunter Seat-only competition. The matchup begins at 10 a.m. from the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
