Robbie Van Holten is in his second season as a graduate assistant coach for the University of Tennessee at Martin rodeo program in 2020-21.
In addition to his administrative duties, Van Holten will also compete for UT Martin in calf roping, steer wrestling and team roping events. He has been a member of the UT Martin rodeo program as a student-athlete since 2015.
Last season, Van Holten helped the UT Martin men's team emerge victorious on three different occasions – claiming top honors at Missouri Valley College (Sept. 19-21), at West Alabama (Sept. 26-28) and at Murray State (Nov. 21-23). The men's team accumulated 3,910 points throughout the season, which was good enough for fifth place nationally and second place in the Ozark Region standings before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UT Martin women's team also added a team victory at Murray State while tacking on runner-up finishes at Missouri Valley College and in the 2019-20 season finale at Arkansas-Monticello (March 12-14). UT Martin's cowgirls generated 1,205 points during the shortened 2019-20 campaign, which was the fourth-best tally in the Ozark Region and ranked 20th on a national scale.
A Chesapeake, Va. native, Van Holten graduated from UT Martin with a degree in agricultural business in 2019.
