Williams Sits Atop Golfweek Fall Challenge Leaderboard Through 18 Holes

PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC – Junior Drew Williams turned in a dominant round today in the University of Tennessee at Martin's first action of the 2026-27 season, leading the field of 86 golfers at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.
Williams submitted a scorecard of 66 (-6), successfully conquering the True Blue Golf Club to the tune of a tournament-best seven birdies against just one bogey. The 66 was only one stroke shy of his career-best round set on Sept. 15, 2025 in Round 2 of the Grover Page Classic as the Greensboro, Ga. native is one shot ahead of a five-way tie for second place in the player standings. In addition to total score and birdies, Williams also leads the field in par-3 scoring (2.60, -2) while ranking sixth in the tournament in par-4 scoring (3.88, -1).
Lucas Herring also accounted for a red score today in the first start of his Skyhawk career, posting a 71 (-1) that included five birdies. He tied Williams for the team lead with 10 pars while ranking fourth in the field in par-5 scoring (4.40, -3).
Grant Phillips shot a 75 that included a pair of birdies and one of only five eagles in the entire field today while Regan Kueker tapped in three birdies on the way to a 78 (+6) in his collegiate debut today. Luke Beadles (84, +12) was the fifth member of UT Martin's scoring lineup as the junior from Nolensville, Tenn. collected one birdie.
As a team, the Skyhawks shot a 290 (+2) to rank in seventh place out of 16 squads. UT Martin ranks second in the event in par-3 scoring (3.00, E) and fourth in birdies (18) with 36 holes left to play.
Round 2 of the Golfweek Fall Challenge is set for tomorrow as the Skyhawks are paired up with Mercer and Presbyterian as the first group off the No. 1 teebox. Beadles will get UT Martin started at 6:30 a.m. CT and will be followed by Kueker (6:39), Phillips (6:48), Herring (6:57) and Williams (7:06).
