
Skyhawks Start 2026 Season This Saturday

MARTIN, Tenn.- Following a year that featured four All-Ohio Valley Conference honorees, a male athlete of the league championship, and the school's first conference championship, the University of Tennessee at Martin cross country team has their eyes on more history in 2026.

Fifth-year head coach Jolyta Fuller and fifth-year assistant coach Anthony Palacio return 10 student athletes from the men's team along with six on the women's side with one newcomer.

Last season at the OVC Championships, the men's team won the program's first conference title while the women's team earned an All-OVC honoree and a seventh-place finish.

The returners on the women's team are Annie Burns, Sophia Cahill, Charlotte Cones, Zoe Jones, Danielle Mudd and Reese Settle. They'll be joined by freshman Kate Robinson from Auckland, New Zealand.

Settle was named a preseason conference runner to watch and was just three places off earning all-conference second team accolades last season. The Skyhawks earned a season-best fifth-place finish at the 5k during the Redhawks Invitational. The personal bests of the returners in the 6k are as listed: Burns (24:11.7), Cahill (23:43.2), Cones (23:41.1), Jones (23:59.2), Mudd (22:19.0) and Settle (22:07.0).

The men's team brings back Tristen Bough, Ethan Brinkley, Ridge Bruce, Will Douglas, Keagan Enicks, Colton King, Angus Monro, Christian Patterson, David Stukey and Tobias Tanui.

Douglas was named a Preseason OVC Runner to Watch for the second straight season while Angus Monro and Keagan Enicks were all-conference performers from a year ago. UT Martin won two meets last season, the season opener at the Redhawks Invitational in Cape Girardeau, Mo. and then the OVC Championships in Charleston, Ill. The personal bests of the returners in the 8k are as listed: Bough (26:53.4), Brinkley (25:47.8), Bruce (26:55.0), Douglas (24:57.1), Enicks (24:38.8), King (25:40.3), Monro (24:28.7), Patterson (25:37.9), Stukey (25:07.3) and Tanui (26:42.7).

The Skyhawks begin the 2026 campaign at the Memphis Twilight on Sept. 5 then will jump back into action at the SIUE Cougar Cross Country Challenge on Sept. 18. UT Martin heads back to Memphis on Oct. 3 for the CBU Invitational and closes out the regular season at the Indiana State Pre-Nats in Terre Haute, Ind. on Oct. 16. The OVC Cross Country Championship are set for Oct. 30 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. and the NCAA South Regional takes place on Nov. 13 in Tallahassee, Fla.
