Shutout Of Jax State Nets Carroll, Titus Second OVC Weekly Awards

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Junior Allie Carroll and fifth-year Mac Titus of the University of Tennessee at Martin women's soccer team have been named Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, by the Ohio Valley Conference for week six of the season. This is the second weekly award of the season for both Carroll and Titus and the sixth career honor for Titus.
The duo each played pivotal roles in the Skyhawks' last-minute shutout win over Jacksonville State Sunday at home. Carroll anchored a back line that shut out the Gamecocks and limited a squad that entered the game averaging 13.8 total shots and 6.4 shots on goal per game to two and zero, respectively. Titus claimed her third clean sheet of the season in the win and although she faced no shots, she had two booming free kicks from midfield that went down as shots on goal, after the JSU keeper was forced to make the saves.
Carroll is currently one of three players with two goals leading the Skyhawks this season; she is also tied for the team lead in points with five. Along with her three shutouts, Titus leads the OVC in both goals against average (0.81) and save percentage (83.3).
The season begins in earnest Sunday for UT Martin when it opens league play at Southern Indiana at 1 p.m., in Evansville.
