Skyhawks Look To Bounce Back Thursday at Home Against Belmont

MARTIN, Tenn. – After suffering its first loss of the season Sunday against Marshall, the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team returns to Skyhawk Soccer Field Thursday to host former OVC foe Belmont at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks suffered their first loss of the season Sunday at home against Marshall. The Thundering Herd scored in the 30th minute, but despite 15 shots, UT Martin could not find the back of the net.
The Skyhawks enter Thursday's contest at 1-1-4 on the year with a 0-1-1 record at home. Unni Wolf has two goals to lead UT Martin, while Peyton Cook and Alex Weihs have one goal and two assists each. As a team, the Skyhawks have scored eight goals this season, while allowing only five.
Defensively, Allie Carroll has helped lead a back line that has given up just five goals in six matches, has been named an OVC Defensive Player of the Week and is 1-for-1 on penalty kicks. In goal, Mac Titus has one shutout, is saving shots at a 79.2-percent clip and is allowing under one goal per game at 0.83.
Belmont is currently 1-2-2 on the season and 0-2-0 on the road. In their last match, the Bruins also faced Marshall and battled them to a 3-3 draw. Belmont has scored just five goals on the season, compared to 11 by their opponents.
Reagan Ross has scored three of the five goals for the Bruins this season, while Kate Virtel and Laken Whittington have scored once. In goal, Greta Genie has played all 450 minutes of the season between the posts with a goals-against average of 2.20 per game and a save percentage of 70.3-percent
Thursday's match will be the 23rd all-time meeting between the Bruins and the Skyhawks and the first since Belmont left the Ohio Valley Conference following the 2021 season. The two teams have each won 11 matches in the series, with the Bruins leading 6-5 in Martin and UT Martin leading 6-5 in Nashville.
