Skyhawks Host Evansville Tomorrow For 2026 Home Opener

MARTIN, Tenn. – After six away or neutral-site matchups to begin the 2026 University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball campaign, the Skyhawks open a five-match homestand tomorrow when they take on the Evansville Purple Aces. First serve is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
UT Martin is 6-5 in home openers under head coach Jaclynn Wilson as Evansville has not visited Skyhawk Fieldhouse since 2019 (also the last time that these two teams faced each other). UT Martin is 5-2 in home outings against the Purple Aces since joining the NCAA Division I ranks in 1992.
This match marks the first action for the Skyhawks in 10 days as UT Martin's first two weekends were against stiff competition in tournaments hosted by Austin Peay and North Alabama. Sophie Diouf has led the Skyhawks so far during the nonconference season, ranking ninth in the Ohio Valley Conference in points (3.40 per set) and 10th in kills (2.81 per set). The sophomore transfer out of Southern also paces UT Martin in attack percentage (.247) and blocks (10, 0.48 per set) so far this fall.
Ida Wiszomirska's 7.09 assists per set ranks fourth in the OVC as she has joined Addie Rosales (6.71 assists per set) and Reagan Hamm (5.20 assists per set) as Skyhawk starting setters in 2026. Abby Freund's six service aces (0.30 per set) rank as a team-high while Dylan Sulcer's 46 digs (2.19 per set) lead the way for a UT Martin defensive attack that features four different players who average over two digs per set.
Evansville is coming off its first two victories of the season, sweeping a home-and-home series with OVC member Tennessee State by identical 3-1 margins last week. Lyla Fisher came away with a team-high 26 kills (3.25 per set) while Carsyn Kelley led the Purple Aces with 60 assists (7.50 per set) and service aces (six) for an offense that hit .273 in the series. The Evansville trio of Kendall Agler (42 digs, 5.25 per set), Ryan Scheu (eight blocks, 1.00 per set) and McKenzie Laubach (eight blocks, 1.00 per set) set the tone defensively.
