Skyhawks Look To Get Back On Track Sunday at Home Against SIU

MARTIN, Tenn. – After the best start in program history at 1-0-4, the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team has lost three of its last four matches with one draw. On Sunday, the Skyhawks look to turn things around when they face Southern Illinois at Skyhawk Soccer Field at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks lost to Marshall, Central Arkansas and, most recently, Austin Peay, all by razor-thin 1-0 margins and tied Belmont in their last home match 1-1. Unni Wolf and Allie Carroll have two goals to lead UT Martin, while Peyton Cook and Alex Weihs each have one goal and two assists. Caroll leads the team in total points this season with five, as she also has an assist.
Defensively, Carroll, Nasti Tanninen, Gi Verdi and Reece Windsor have formed a young but effective back line that has given up just eight goals in nine matches. In goal, Mac Titus has one shutout and leads the OVC in goals-against average (0.89) and save percentage (83.3). Last week, she was named the OVC Goalkeeper of the Week after allowing 1.0 goals per game and saving 16 shots, including a career-high 10 against Belmont, over two matches.
Southern Illinois enters Sunday's match on a program-best four-match win streak and are 5-2-0 overall this season. The Skyhawks will be the fifth OVC opponent for the Salukis in 2026, as they have defeated Western Illinois, Lindenwood and most recently, SIUE, while dropping a narrow 1-0 decision to Southeast Missouri in the season opener.
As a team, Southern Illinois has scored a whopping 17 goals through seven matches, while allowing just four. The four goals allowed came in the two losses for the Salukis, while all five wins have been by way of shutout.
Despite the close proximity between the two teams, Sunday will be just the fourth-ever meeting between the Skyhawks and the Salukis, with UT Martin leading the series 1-0-2. The two teams first met in 2021 when the Skyhawks picked up a 2-0 win in Martin, while the 2024 meeting in Martina and the 2025 contest in Carbondale both ended in 0-0 draws.
