MARTIN, Tenn. – The middle contest of a three-game Ohio Valley Conference homestand for the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad features a matchup against the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles. Tipoff tomorrow is set for 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks have won five straight decisions against Southern Indiana and are 7-0 all-time at home against the Screaming Eagles. UT Martin's winning streak in the all-time series includes a 73-56 triumph in Evansville back on Jan. 10. In that game, Filip Radaković amassed career-highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds while Andrija Bukumirović recorded 19 points and eight rebounds. The Skyhawks outscored Southern Indiana by a 36-12 margin in the paint and held the Screaming Eagles to 29.4 percent (15-of-51) shooting.
UT Martin (18-5, 10-2 OVC) tallied its 10th consecutive victory inside the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center on Tuesday, defeating Little Rock in a narrow 55-52 decision. Matas Deniusas generated a game-high 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting (including a 4-of-6 effort from three-point land) while Bukumirović chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals as the Skyhawks led for 27:41 of clock time.
Another stellar defensive performance shot UT Martin up the national statistical rankings as the Skyhawks currently rank fourth in NCAA Division I men's basketball in scoring defense (63.00 points per game). UT Martin also ranks fifth in the country in three-point field goal percentage defense (.275) and seventh in field goal percentage defense (.384).
Southern Indiana, who leads the OVC in three-point field goals made per game (8.23), is coming off a 58-46 home setback to SIUE last Saturday. California transfer Devin Curtis topped the Screaming Eagles (5-17, 2-10 OVC) with 11 points off the bench.
Amaree Brown (17 points) and Ismail Habib (14 points) each cracked double figures in the scoring column earlier this season against the Skyhawks.
