MARTIN, Tenn. – A marquee matchup is on tap in the University of Tennessee at Martin's regular season finale tomorrow as the Skyhawk men's basketball squad takes on in-state Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State live on ESPNU at 1 p.m. The contest will take place following the conclusion of the women's game, which is slated to tip off at 10 a.m.
UT Martin and the Tigers are one of just nine Saturday matchups across the NCAA Division I landscape that features a pair of 20-win teams as these two squads hold their final tuneup before next week's OVC Championship event.
The Skyhawks (21-9, 13-6 OVC) clinched at least a top-four seed and first-round bye in the upcoming league tournament with a 64-49 triumph over Tennessee Tech on Thursday. UT Martin featured its nationally renowned defense, holding the Golden Eagles to 0-for-13 shooting with 10 turnovers in the first 13:55 as the Skyhawks limited a NCAA Division I opponent to 25 percent shooting and just 11 field goals for the first time since at least the 2001-02 season. Lamine Niang became the 10th different player to lead UT Martin in scoring in 2025-26 as he tallied 12 points.
Senior Day festivities will take place shortly before tipoff as the trio of AJ Hopkins, Niang and Luca Colceag have paced the Skyhawks to 21 wins and 13 OVC triumphs this season - just one victory shy of the school's NCAA Division I record in both of those categories.
UT Martin will chase after a season split with Tennessee State (20-9, 14-5 OVC) as the Skyhawks fell 78-71 way back on Dec. 20 in the OVC opener for both squads. Matas Deniusas (17 points, nine rebounds), Andrija Bukumirović (16 points) and Filip Radaković (16 points) guided UT Martin, who led by four points with 2:42 to go before the Tigers ended the contest on a 14-3 run.
Tennessee State and its OVC-best offense knocked off Southeast Missouri by a 79-71 margin on Thursday, shooting 36-of-42 (85.7 percent) from the charity stripe. Antoine Lorick II's game-high 22 points and nine rebounds led the Tigers.
