MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad hops on the bus for one last time during the regular season as the Skyhawks pay a visit to Ohio Valley Conference rival Little Rock. Tipoff tomorrow is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
UT Martin (20-8, 12-5 OVC) will look for its first-ever season sweep of the Trojans as the Skyhawks gutted out a 55-52 victory in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center on Feb. 3. In that game, Matas Deniusas (game-high 17 points) and Andrija Bukumirović (15 points, team-highs of seven rebounds and three steals) helped UT Martin maintain a lead for 27:41 of clock time as the swarming Skyhawk defense held Little Rock to 26.7 percent shooting (4-of-15) from three-point range with 17 turnovers.
Dating back to last season, Bukumirović has averaged 14.5 points over his last two games against the Trojans. Although he missed the Feb. 3 matchup due to an injury, Afan Trnka managed a team-best 17 points (aided by a 5-of-8 effort from three-point range) against Little Rock in the 2025 OVC Championship quarterfinals.
UT Martin is coming off a tough 56-53 overtime home setback to Southeast Missouri on Tuesday. Deniusas posted a game-high 17 points while current OVC Freshman of the Week Pedro Santos splashed 16 points for the Skyhawks, who overcame a 10-point halftime deficit before running out of gas in the extra period.
The Trojans (10-17, 7-9 OVC) are kicking off a four-game homestand to conclude the regular season as Little Rock began the OVC schedule with a 5-1 mark but has dropped seven of its last eight decisions. Johnathan Lawson nabbed OVC Player of the Week accolades on Monday after stuffing the statsheet for the 27th triple-double in league history (13 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists) at Western Illinois on Feb. 12.
Braxton Bayless (13 points) and Kachi Nzeh (11 points) each scored in double figures against UT Martin on Feb. 3 while Cameron Wallace (eight points, game-high nine rebounds) narrowly missed out on a double-double.
