UT Martin To Host Central Arkansas In Sunday Exhibition Tuneup
10/16/2026 10:46:00 AM | Men's Basketball
MARTIN, Tenn. – A pair of 20-win squads from a year ago will collide in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center as the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team takes on the Central Arkansas Bears on Sunday, Oct. 18.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. as admission is free while cash donations will be accepted for the Fostering Christmas initiative put on by the Skyhawk Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Sunday will be a family reunion of sorts as the Bears are coached by John Shulman, the uncle of UT Martin head coach Jeremy Shulman. Central Arkansas also features Jeremy Shulman's first cousins Max (assistant coach) and JC (sophomore guard).
The Skyhawks are coming off a 22-win campaign last season, equaling the program record for victories en route to an Ohio Valley Conference Championship semifinals appearance. Central Arkansas also collected 22 victories in 2025-26, winning its first league championship in its Division I Era (since 2006) before joining the newly formed United Athletic Conference this summer.
This matchup will be the second of two exhibitions for UT Martin during the preseason as the Skyhawks also traveled to Northern Kentucky on Wednesday night. The 2026-27 season officially starts on Nov. 2 as UT Martin heads to Tulane for the first of 32 regular season contests. Skyhawk season ticket packages are now on sale through the UT Martin Ticket Office at UTMSports.com/tickets.
