- The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team (10-8, 6-3 OVC) won its third consecutive game last Tuesday when it topped Southeast Missouri, 67-56, on the road. The Skyhawks got off to a slow start in the game, going just 1-for-9 from the floor in the opening quarter. However, a 9-for-12 clip at the free throw line helped leave them down by only one, 13-12, at the end of the first. The second quarter belonged to UT Martin, as it outscored SEMO, 21-7, in the frame, while in the third, SEMO returned the favor by beginning the quarter on an 11-2 run and outscoring UT Martin, 21-10, trailing by just two, 43-41, at the end of the third. The Skyhawks pushed their lead out to as much as nine in the fourth quarter, but the Redhawks would not go away and trailed by only three, 59-56, with 2:11 left to play. However, from that point on UT Martin closed out the game on an 8-0 run to secure the 11-point victory.
- Kenley McCarn currently leads the Skyhawks with 16.8 points per game, while Zy Thompson and Sidni Middleton follow at 11.2 and 9.6, respectively. On the boards, Thompson leads UT Martin with 6.1 rebounds per game, while Brittani Wells leads in assists and steals at 4.1 and 2.2. As a team, the Skyhawks are averaging 66.2 points and 34.9 rebounds per game, while their opponents average 62.6 and 39.8. They are currently shooting 41.3-percent from the field, 28.3-percent from 3-point range and 73.6-percent at the free throw line.
- Eastern Illinois enters Tuesday's contest having won just one of its last five games and stands at 3-18 overall and 2-8 in OVC play after a 52-48 loss at Morehead State Saturday. - Thursday will be the 69th meeting between the Skyhawks and Panthers, with the Skyhawks leading the all-time series, 42-26, after beating the Panthers at home earlier this month. In Charleston, Eastern Illinois narrowly leads the series, 16-14.
- The Skyhawks have made a 3-point field goal in 531 consecutive games, a streak which dates back to Feb. 3, 2009 against Austin Peay and ranks seventh nationally.
- With 12 points at Southeast Missouri, Kenley McCarn has now scored 10 or more points in each of the Skyhawks' 18 games this season. She is averaging 16.8 points on the season and has scored 10 or more points in 26 of her last 28 games.
- Two updates to the Skyhawks schedule were recently made. UT Martin's game at home against Little Rock originally scheduled for Jan. 23, has been moved to Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 5:30 p.m. The Skyhawks' game against Morehead State on Feb. 7, originally scheduled for 1 p.m., has been moved to 12 p.m., due to the men's game being picked up by ESPNU.
- The Skyhawks currently have the 46th-best field goal percentage defense in the nation at 37.0, while they rank 61st in the nation in steals per game at 10.4. UT Martin is also 88th in the country in turnovers forced per game at 18.8. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked 88th in defensive rebounds per game at 26.7. At the free throw line, UT Martin is 53rd in the nation in free throws made per game (14.3), 66th in free throw attempts per game (19.5) and 94th in free throw percentage (73.6).
- With consecutive wins over SIUE, Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri, the Skyhawks have now won at least three consecutive games for the first time since winning four in a row from Feb. 17 to Feb. 29, 2024.
