
Four Skyhawks Tabbed As OVC Track And Field Athletes To Watch

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.- The Ohio Valley Conference released its Track and Field Athletes to Watch list for the season and University of Tennessee at Martin standouts Meg Wiginton, Hank Fisher, Eliana Oquendo and David Stukey were named to the elite group.

Wiginton looks to build on her freshman season where she set two new school records in the 400m hurdles (1:02.57) and the heptathlon (4,191 points). The sophomore notched her first career podium finish at the OVC Outdoor Championships by coming in third place in the 400m hurdles.

Fisher broke eight school records en route to a stellar debut with the Skyhawks in 2025. The Milan, Tenn. native owns the program's best performances in the indoor shot put (13.94m), outdoor shot put (14.26m), outdoor discus (40.12m) and outdoor javelin (54.06m).

Oquendo recorded quality outings across multiple events in her first season at UT Martin. The sophomore captured her first career wins in the 100m (12.54) and 4x100m (49.84) during the Rhodes Invitational while running second in the 400m (56.79) and 400m hurdles (1:07.35) at the Margaret Simmons Invite.

Stukey comes into track and field season fresh off two personal bests to conclude his cross country campaign. The junior notched PRs in the 8k at the OVC Championships (25:07.3) and in the 10k at the NCAA South Regional (32:32.8). He was one fourth of the school record DMR time (9:58.59) that took second place back at the OVC Indoor Championships.

The Skyhawks are in action this Friday, Jan 16. and Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
