MARTIN, Tenn. – Contrasting styles are set to clash as the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team hosts Ohio Valley Conference rival Lindenwood tomorrow at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. The game will serve as the backend of a doubleheader with the women's team and will tip off at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks have flexed their defensive muscle this season, ranking in the top-15 in the nation in three-point field goal percentage defense (.279, 11th), scoring defense (64.67 points per game, 15th), field goal percentage defense (.388, 15th) while also topping the OVC with 4.67 blocks per game. Meanwhile, the Lions average 81.33 points per contest (just 0.6 points behind Tennessee State for the OVC's best scoring average) while leading the league in field goal percentage (.471), assists (16.06 per outing) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.21).
UT Martin (14-4, 6-1 OVC) will look for revenge after Lindenwood won a pair of one-point games in the series last season. The Lions overcame an eight-point deficit with 3:31 remaining to win 82-81 on a go-ahead three-pointer with five seconds to go in St. Charles. The following month at the Elam Center, Lindenwood converted a go-ahead four-point play with 16 seconds left to sneak away with a 52-51 victory.
Filip Radaković accounted for a game-high 16 points in the Skyhawks' 65-59 win over defending OVC Tournament champion SIUE on Thursday. Andrija Bukumirović (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Matas Deniusas (11 points, career-best 11 rebounds) each hauled in double-doubles for UT Martin, who improved to 10 games over .500 in the month of January for the first time since the 1987-88 season.
The Lions (11-7, 5-2 OVC) boast three of the league's top eight scorers as that trio - Anias Futrell (28), Dontrez Williams (22) and Jadis Jones (20) - combined for 70 points in an 88-76 victory at Southeast Missouri on Thursday. Lindenwood led by as many as 31 points in that contest as Futrell (11 rebounds) and Jones (10 rebounds) completed double-doubles to help the Lions snap a two-game skid.
