
Skyhawk Standouts Douglas And Roy Named OVC Runners To Watch

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.- With cross country season around the corner, University of Tennessee at Martin student athletes Will Douglas and Maggie Roy were named as Ohio Valley Conference Runners to Watch.

A Camden, Tenn. native, Douglas transfers to the Skyhawks from Alabama after two seasons. His best performance from last year came in the form of a sixth-place finish in the Nicholls Invitational with a time of 19:48.14 (four-mile) which helped the Crimson Tide capture first place in the event. At Camden Central HS, he won four state championships in track and field while winning the 2020 TSSAA Division I Class A cross country state championship.

A Bartlett, Tenn. native, Roy garners this preseason accolade for the second straight season. She begins her fourth year at UT Martin and tallied four top-15 finishes in 2024. Her best performance came at the Angels Mounds Invitational where she earned a 12th place finish off a time of 22:09.2. At the OVC Championship, she finished just one place shy of all-conference honors with a time of 22:32.1 which gave her 15th place.

The Skyhawks open the season at the Redhawks Invitational on Friday, Aug. 29 at 6:15 p.m. in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
