Eimer And Monro Named OVC Athletes Of The Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.- The Ohio Valley Conference released its third batch of Track and Field weekly accolades and University of Tennessee at Martin standouts Rita Eimer and Angus Monro were awarded with Athlete of the Week honors.

A native of Auckland, New Zealand, Monro tallied a blazing time of 3:48.82 (seventh-place finish) in the Joe Walker Invite to set a personal, program and conference best in the 1500m competition. The sophomore also entered the OVC's top-10 in the 800m following a time of 1:55.26. Earlier in the year, Monro helped the indoor distance medley relay team earn a second-place finish during the OVC Championships.

A senior, Eimer placed sixth in both the 800m (2:12.96) and the 1500m (4:44.56) while claiming the number one spot in the conference for her time in the 800m and the eighth-best mark for the 1500m. The Festus, Mo. native has been with the program all four years and helped the team capture a second-place finish in the DMR race during the OVC Indoor Championships back in February.

Eimer and Monro will be back on the track this weekend April 11-12 in the Little Rock Invitational.
