CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Jackson Twerdahl, a redshirt senior on the University of Tennessee at Martin golf team, was voted to the All-Ohio Valley Conference first team by the league's head coaches.
Today's announcement came on the eve of the 2025 OVC Championships event, which will run from tomorrow through Wednesday at the pristine Dalhousie Golf Club.
Twerdahl is the 14th Skyhawk representative to ever be crowned All-OVC and becomes the first player in school history to receive All-OVC first team accolades. The OVC previously had only recognized a first and second team from 2008-12 until this season, identifying a seven-man first team and seven-man second team in lieu of the traditional 10-man All-OVC squad.
A Nolenville, Tenn. native, Twerdahl has been a mainstay in the UT Martin lineup in 2024-25. He leads the squad with 29 rounds played and boasts a 72.3 stroke average – good enough for seventh in the OVC and 12th-best mark in the school's NCAA Division I Era (fifth-best in head coach Austin Swafford's tenure).
Twerdahl shot par or better in 13 rounds this season, including a career-best 65 in the final round of the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate to capture his first collegiate medalist victory. He shot a 204 (-9) during the 54-hole tournament held at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn. on April 7-8, clearing the 92-man field by two shots. That marked his second top-10 and sixth top-25 finish of the 2024-25 campaign.
On the season, Twerdahl sank 93 birdies – 13 more than any other teammate – and led all active Skyhawks with three eagles. He backed up his "OVC Player to Watch" recognition with OVC Golfer of the Week mentions on Oct. 24 and April 10 to become just the eighth player in program history to earn that award multiple times in a single season.
Twerdahl will tee off with the final group of Round 1 of the 2025 OVC Championships, hitting off Hole No. 1 at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
