UTM vs. EIU: UTM leads series 41-25
Â
- The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team topped SIUE, 77-66, Thursday night at First Community Arena in Edwardsville. The win clinches the Skyhawks a spot in the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Women's Basketball Championship. UT Martin has now qualified for the conference in each of head coach Kevin McMillan's 16 seasons at the helm.
 - The Skyhawks completed the season sweep of SIUE by leading for nearly 33 minutes Thursday night and led the Cougars by as many as 12. UT Martin finished the game shooting 43.3-percent from the floor and 41.7-percent from 3-point range where it was 10-for-24. The Skyhawks dished out 15 assists and tallied nine steals in the game, compared to just eight turnovers, and tied the Cougars on the glass with 36 rebounds each.
 - Kenley McCarn led four UT Martin players in double digits Thursday with 21, while Anaya Brown followed with 18 and a game-high six rebounds. McCarn has now eclipsed the 20-point mark five times this season with three of those performances coming in the last five games. Shae Littleford added 13 points for the Skyhawk, while Daejah Richmond finished the night with 10 points and game-highs of six rebounds and six assists.
 - Eastern Illinois found a return to form Thursday with a 69-49 win over Tennessee State. The Panthers have won just two of their last five games and are now 15-9 overall and 12-3 in the OVC after stating league play 10-0. The Panthers currently average 62.3 points per game on 41.3-shooting, while allowing 61.0 points per game on 39.2-percent shooting. EIU also currently outrebounds its opponents on the season at 36.0 to 34.2 rebounds per game.
 - Despite a win by Eastern Illinois in January, UT Martin still holds a commanding 41-25 lead in the all-time series against the Panthers. However, in games played in Charleston, the Panthers hold a slight advantage, leading 15-14.
 - Kenley McCarn scored 21 points Thursday night at SIUE for her fifth 20-plus point performance of the season. McCarn has now scored 20 or more point in three of her last five games and has averaged 20.0 points per game over the same span.
 - McCarn is currently second on the Skyhawks in scoring average at 13.5 points per game, to go along with 4.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
 - After Anaya Brown became the 18th member of UT Martin's 1,000-point club on January 30, the 19th member does not appear to be far behind. Currently sitting at 959 career points, Kenley McCarn needs just 41 points to reach the historic milestone. If she completes the task before the end of the season, she will become just the fourth sophomore in program history to join the exclusive club, along with Heather Butler, Jasmine Newsome and Ashia Jones.
 - With nine made 3-pointers against SIUE, UT Martin has now made at least one 3-pointer in 507 consecutive games. The current streak dates back to Feb. 3, 2009, against Austin Peay and currently, ranks seventh nationally.
