• The Skyhawks enter Sunday 0-1 after a close loss at North Alabama Monday. The Skyhawks held a 3-point lead at halftime and led by as many as six early in the third quarter. In the fourth, North Alabama led by as many as nine in the frame, but back-to-back 3-pointers by Kenley McCarn cut the lead to just one with under a minute to play. With just 14 seconds left Katie Criswell hit a jumper to push the lead back out to three. In the end, Kenley McCarn had a good look at a 3-pointer to tie the game that eventually rimmed out, giving the Lions the 57-54 win. McCarn led all scorers in the game with 16 points, to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Brittani Wells had a solid debut for UT Martin with 10 points, six rebounds and a team-high four assists.
• Sunday is the much-anticipated Pat Summitt Heritage Classic featuring the UT Martin and Tennessee women's basketball teams at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. The game seeks to honor the legendary Pat Summitt by bringing together the school where she played and the school she coached at, at the place that helped launch her amazing career in basketball and on the court which bears her name. The event is officially sold out and marks the Lady Vols first trip to Martin since 1997. The game tips-off at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
• The eighth-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols enters Sunday's contest at 0-1, after a close loss at No. 9 NC State. The Lady Vols led by one with less than a minute left, but the Wolfpack rallied back for the win. Talaysia Copper led Tennessee with a monster stat line of team-high of 23 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Janiah Barker followed with 15, while Jaida Civil and Mya Pauldo chipped in with 13 and 10, respectively.
• The Lady Vols lead the all-time series with the Skyhawks 15-3. Sunday marks the 10th time the two teams will meet with Tennessee ranked. The game will be the Lady Vols fourth trip to Martin and the first since 1997, with Tennessee winning all three previous meetings.
• The Skyhawks have made a three-point field goal in 514 consecutive games, a streak which dates back to Feb. 3, 2009 against Austin Peay and ranks seventh nationally.
• In her first game and start at the Division I level Brittani Wells made quite the impression. She finished the game with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal. She was also an impressive 4-for-4 at the free throw line in the game
