DANBURY, Conn. – A trio of University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian student-athletes secured Eastern College Athletic Conference Rider of the Week accolades today as Audrey Morris (fences), Kailyn Veale (horsemanship) and Payton Bundy (reining) won those awards.
These three Skyhawks join Daphne Stavig (fences on Oct. 7) and Elise Mason (reining on Oct. 7) as teammates who have nabbed ECAC Rider of the Week status this season. This marks the first career ECAC weekly mention for Morris, Veale and Bundy.
Morris, Veale and Bundy made an impact last weekend during UT Martin's first two home meets of the season – a 15-5 victory over ECAC foe South Dakota State on Friday and a 15-4 setback to No. 2 South Carolina on Saturday.
A junior from Flower Mound, Texas, Morris posted her first career MOP against South Dakota State with a career-best 84-point effort aboard Archie – defeating her Jackrabbit counterpart by 24 points in the process. She put up a fight on Saturday with 81 points on Denny but fell to a MOP performance by her South Carolina counterpart. On the season, Morris has displayed an average score of 80.3 points over three starts in fences.
Veale went 2-0 over the weekend, starting with an MOP ride (first of her career) of 75.5 points against South Dakota State for a two-point head-to-head triumph on Winnie. The following day against South Carolina, the senior out of Ooltewah, Tenn. garnered another victory with 74.5 points – winning by an 0.5-point margin on Jim. Veale is tied for the team lead in scoring average (74.3) while starting in all four meets in horsemanship.
Hailing from Tallahassee, Fla., Bundy also went 2-for-2 in victories over the weekend. That included a career-high 72.5-point effort on Friday against South Dakota State, winning by 7.5 points over her competitor on Cobra. Against South Carolina, she generated a 1.5-point triumph against her Gamecock opponent – scoring 69.5 points aboard Duke. The sophomore is averaging 69.5 points over three starts in reining in 2025-26.
The Skyhawks are back in action this weekend for a pair of ECAC battles. UT Martin travels to Felton, Del. for contests against No. 10 UC Davis (Friday, Nov. 7) and Delaware State (Saturday, Nov. 8).
